Photographer Golden Belt Artist-in-Residence Studio 3-141
Peter Eversoll graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 1994 and earned a M.F.A. from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (The Academy of San Carlos, National School of Art) in 2007. His current photographic work has been largely influenced by his time studying, working, and teaching in Mexico City, Mexico. Recently, Peter has been working a lot with manipulated digital photography. He currently lives in Durham, North Carolina. Through a rigorous selection process, photographer Mr. Eversoll was selected as Golden Belt’s artist-in-residence. Mr. Eversoll has been awarded residency from November 2008 through April 2009. As part of the terms of his residency , Peter will create and exhibit four projects: (1) El Novio de Ninel Conde (Ninel Conde’s Boyfriend), manipulated digital photography and mixed media/found object installation on exploitation and consumer culture; (2) Los Cucarachas (The Cockroaches), a collaborative infestation of images from Mexico City; (3) Marcha Forzada (Forced March), photography installation; (4) Land(es)cape, mixed media installation on nostalgia through landscape. During his six month residency, he will also create a youth-oriented, community-based workshop designed around developing the tools and skills needed to harness community advocacy roles.
