Dona Nova is a modern artist with roots in the past, present and future. She was born legally blind, and perhaps for that reason, has always felt a sense of being different from her peers. From a very early age, she says she was always drawn to unusual color, texture, and design.

"I was always drawn to the only bright yellow chair in the store, or a hat with 60's mod designs on it. Things like that."

Her work is primarily in acrylic and mixed media on canvas, but it has also included painted furniture, resin and mixed media jewelry, mixed media sculptures, digital photography, graphic design, mixed media assemblage, interior design, and ceramics. The works have been described as whimsical, ethereal, bold, powerful, dreamlike, graphic, and vibrant.

Dona has been selling and showing her work since 1993. She has sold nationally and internationlly. She participated in the Orange County Open Studio Tour in Chapel Hill for 12 years, and was the youngest and only legally blind participant.
