CD Release Party
Admission: Free admission
Parking: Main Parking Lot
You are cordially invited to join Bombadil’s CD Listening festivities this Saturday, July 11 to celebrate the official release of the band’s third and most ambitious record, Tarpits and Canyonlands. The new record represents the culmination of the band's four-year existence and is also a special collaboration with the masterminds behind the IdiotsBooks storybook series.
The celebration will feature an exhibition of 19 illustrations from the project: five illustrations that make up the fable housed in the disc's packaging, plus one illustration to represent each song on the album. You are sure to fall in love with these ingenious and notoriously funny creations as quickly as the band did. The (very) limited edition prints will be available for sale ($25-50 cash or check) for those interested.
Due to severe tendonitis in the wrists of bassist Daniel Michalak, the band itself will not be able to perform that night. But not to worry, there will be no shortage of entertainment. The evening will feature live performances by three of Bombadil’s favorite bands: The Tender Fruit, Luego, and Durham's own improvisational marching band, the Scene of the Crime Rovers. After those sets, fans can revel in a communal listening of Tarpits and Canyonlands.
Meanwhile, James (Bombadil’s drummer) will be defending his honor on the Ping Pong table and free snacks will be provided by some of Durham's finest eateries. The event will be BYOB (beer and unfortified wine) and coolers will be provided for those that wish to enjoy their own adult beverege. Don’t forget to enter one of the raffles for a chance to win various Bombadil memorabilia! This is likely to be the last Bombadil event of the year so don't miss it!
