Open to the public Monday-Saturday 10am-7pm and Sunday 12-6pm, the artist studio Building 3 blends jewelry makers, mixed media artists, photographers, painters and more in a collaborative, sky-lit space that spills into a central gallery. Artists have access to their space 24/7 and may sell work out of their spaces.
The 35 individual artist studios feature oversized, industrial sliding doors with inset glass window, ample natural light, electrical outlets, concrete floors, and 14-foot ceilings. Sizes range from 168–648 square feet and larger spaces can be shared.
Due to the demand for studio space and our desire to maintain the highest standards and quality programming at Golden Belt, an application and review process for all new artists interested in studio space has been instituted. All new artists will be required to submit an application and fee along with an artist’s statement, a CV including exhibition history, and three images of work most representative of their overall portfolio. Each application will then be subject to a credit check and reviewed by a GB Artist Review Committee of five qualified individuals. The GB Artist Review Committee consists of three notable members from the regional arts community plus one rotating Golden Belt artist, and one Scientific Properties staff member. As artists become “vetted”, they will be added to the waiting list for the next available studio. If there is immediate studio availability, selected artists will be able to move in upon signing of the lease. Note that applicants must pass a credit check and be selected by the Review Committee on the basis of their body of work.
