Nick Dahlstrom was born in Pittsburg, PA. He studied art at Albion College in Albion Michigan. He moved to Durham, NC in 2014 and calls it home. A catalyst for his artist journey happened while studying art history in Florence, Italy. While there he was inspired by the Renaissance Artists’ pursuit to understand perspective. He has continued this pursuit by studying David Hockney’s “Secret Knowledge” and the works of Francis Bacon. Dahlstrom uses painting to examine the photographic image and redefine the border between realism and abstraction.
