Ben Brown: Automatic Luster – February 1 – April 30th, 2024

“Automatic Luster” is a collection of photos dating from nowadays back to 2017, mostly gathered on slow walks through NC towns that, while experiencing growth change, have so much interesting charisma to freeze into photographs. The collection’s title refers to the attractive veneer that locales with limited new development seem to produce over time — maybe with interesting signs of decay, maybe through changing impressions of bygone styles, or maybe just in the pace that natives take as they walk to the post office. That said, everything here comes from instinct and impression — feeling each photo subject rather than over-studying it. Further work can be found on Instagram — @benbrownmultimedia — or at https://www.benbrownmultimedia.com/.
